A Few Good Men, Inc. proudly selects Attorney Tiffany Wilson as Citizen of the Year for 2024. Ms. Wilson joins a prestigious list of former winners: J.W. McDow, 2003; Annie Jordan Allen, 2004; Rosa Bell, 2005; Oscar White, 2006; Ralph Bolden, 2007; Herman Cunningham, 2008; Louisiana Robinson, 2009; Jeanette Sherrod, 2010; James Mungo,
2011; Johnny Sowell, 2012; Franklin Deese, 2013; Rev. Larry Leak, 2012; Minnie Crowder, 2013; Diane Burns, 2014; Rev. Waymon S. Jordan, Sr., 2015; Ernest Collins, 2016; Hattie Gail Coffey, 2017; Nathan Hailey, 2018; and Joan Laverne White, 2019. A Few Good Men, Inc. did not bestow the Citizen of the Year award on anyone in 2020 or 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Franco McGee was selected in 2022 and Robert Heath in 2023.
Attorney Tiffany Wilson has earned a reputation as a highly effective and well-regarded lawyer, as well as public servant with a strong commitment to the residents of Union County.
Wilson is a graduate of Monroe High School, she earned a Political Science degree from Howard University, and a law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
A native of Union County, Wilson, the child of a retired military father and educator mother, spent her early years living in various cities throughout the US. Her father’s life of service to the country, her mother’s commitment to educating youth, and her experience living in diverse cities, have fueled her passion for service and people.
Wilson placed a high importance on working with families, protecting women and children from violence, and supporting youth. Wilson began practicing in Juvenile Court with the intention of inspiring and guiding youth. She took her passion for change and effectively advocated for her young clients. She currently serves at the Attorney
Advocate in Forsyth County where she advocates for the youth who are in the custody of Department of Social Service With the intent on doing what is best for families and the community, she has served as an attorney in Family treatment court, and she has both prosecuted and defended cases in Child Support court. She has practiced for over
20 years in the Department of Social Services Court. Wilson, an experienced defense attorney, has represented clients in both District and Superior court, including representation for DWI treatment court. Her advocation for uplifting others is not confined to the courtroom; she tirelessly volunteers in the community.
Wilson was the first African American to serve as a board member and secretary on the Union County Board of Elections. She served on the Monroe Parks and Recreation Commission and Board. She is a current board member of the Community Shelter Board. She has been the Cheer Commissioner at Monroe Middle School since 2013, as
well as a volunteer with the Monroe Athletic Foundation. Wilson serves as Trustee, the Director of the Christian Education, Voting and Social Engagement Chair and Youth Missionary Director at her church. She is currently serving as Legal Advisor for the Wadesboro/Monroe District of the AME Zion Church. She is a member of NCNW and
NAACP.
In the interest of providing youth with guidance and opportunities, Wilson assisted with the creation of two mentoring programs that focus on at-risk youth in middle and high school. She helped start and coach a Track and Field program in Monroe. Over the years she has collected donations for Turning Point, The Community Shelter, and Union County Public Schools, Hooping for Holiday’s event. Currently she has several young ladies that she mentors on a regular basis, promoting them to be involved on all levels. She has served as a mentor with the Women in the Making Program, Hearts for Monroe, and at local elementary and middle schools. She was a Charter member of
Union County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As a member, she has volunteered with her sorority’s Debutante Ball, Scholarship Committee, and Social Action Committee, all of which have played a vital role in making sure community needs are addressed. Wilson believes that public service is everyone’s
responsibility. She does what she does so that the next generation can have more opportunity than before.
